The uS5101 is an analog current output ambient light sensor with spectral sensitivity close to human eyes sensitivity. The output current is proportional to ambient brightness. The output current gain is selectable by a control input pin.

The uS5101 features shutdown function that reduces the supply current to less than 0.1uA. This device is ideal to obtain the ambient light data for adjusting LCD panel and keypad backlight of both cellular handsets and PDAs for power saving and better visibility. The uS5101 is available in space-saving ODFN1.6x1.6-6L and ODFN2x2-6L packages.
