General Description

The uP9556 is a 4/3/2/1-phase PWM controller specifically designed to work with VDD=5V, input voltage VIN=3V to 20V to deliver high quality output voltage for high performance graphic processor power. This part is designed to be paired with DrMOS module or smart power stage (SPS) for maximum application flexibility.
The uP9556 supports NVIDIA Open Voltage Regulator Type-4-22 with PWMVID interface. The PWMVID input is buffered and filtered to generate accurate reference voltage and the output voltage is precisely regulated to the reference input. The device adopts uPI’s proprietary RCOT+TM (Robust Constant On-Time) technology to have fast transient response and smooth operation mode transition. The power saving input (PSI) is designed with updated off states, which allow the graphic processor to control the voltage regulator more efficiently.
The uP9556 supports three types of phase current sense technique: low-side MOSFET RDS(ON) current sensing, lossless inductor DCR current sensing, and smart power stage (SPS) IMON current sensing. Other features include adjustable switching frequency, adjustable Vout soft start slope, total output current limit, under voltage protection, over voltage protection, power good indication and the input for thermal protection. The uP9556 is available in a WQFN4x4-32L package.
