Fast-charging converter IC uP9616 not only supports most existing protocols such as Apple / Samsung / BC1.2 / QC2.0 / PE+ 1.1, it also supports the latest ones such as Qualcomm QC 3.0, MTK PE+ 2.0 and Huawei FCP. The USB Type-C Configuration Channel (CC) is also supported to ensure flawless transition to the next generation port. With comprehensive protocol support all integrated into one package, designing products with best compatibility is no longer a painful process.

To add the latest Huawei SCP fast charging protocol to the portfolio, simply choose the protocol identification IC uP7104 with a high power density converter such as uP6018, and 5V/4.5A or 4.5V/5A fast charging mode can be realized.

There are several highlights to the fast-charging converter uP9616, such as:

  • Highly integrated – fewer external components, smaller footprint.
  • Robust VDFN5x6 package – high heat dissipation rate and robust. With performance on par with “PowerPAK”, it’s now possible to achieve 24W (9V/3A) , even 36W (12V/3A) in a relatively small footprint without compromising stability.
  • IC Process – the High-voltage process enables uP9616 to sustain Transient Voltage Surge from the input, avoiding possible damages, and ensures the IC to work stably within 8V to 32V range.
  • Comprehensive protection – includes UVP / OVP / CC / OTP…etc

In response to low voltage, high current fast charging needs, uPI has introduced bulk converter boost converter uP6018. These products provide leading temperature performance by utilizing next-gen MOSFET technology from UBIQ Semiconductor, and fine tuning the structure and materials of the QFN4x4 package. These innovations allow both converters to achieve at least 10 degrees Celsius lower operating temperature than other competitors, making 5A applications possible and work efficiently.
